2019 overview

Dec 31, 2019 16:50

Man, typing that year out feels so surreal. *2019*?! How are we almost TWENTY YEARS into this century already.

I'm sure people in 1919 felt the same, lol.

Anyhow, let's see how I did with my resolutions for this year!

General stuff
- Get a new job, or at least make my current job more fitting for me and my interests. Semi-fail? I'm still at my old job but actively looking for something new, and there *might* be something in the pipeline...
- Finally set up a blog? Admittedly I have been keeping a diary for the past three months, which is a record for me, so maybe I can translate that into blogging, too... Heh that diary petered out on January 2 or something so so much for that! I did post a lot on Instagram and I've got the Wordpress app on my new tablet so uh that's slight progress?
- Read at least 25 books (setting my goal a little lower this year so as not to stress myself out again) I read 27 books!
- Read an Italian and a French book... but none of those were in either Italian or French.
- Be able to read and write Japanese Hiragana; work through a Japanese workbook Nope. I did recently start another "learn Japanese" app and got a physical Japanese workbook (easier than working from a pdf) so that should happen in 2020.
- Take another sign language course and have a conversation in Sign Did both! Although sadly I've forgotten most of my sign language, boo.
- Start a book club Didn't do this, not sure if I ever will.
- Do more hiking, at least 15 kilometers Didn't do this either. Instead I went back to the neurologist for more tests, visited the physiotherapist for my dodgy knee, and am going to visit the rheumatologist in January for suspected rheumatism. None of which is conducive to hiking. :p
- Try out yoga to see if it's any good for my health I DID try out yoga and it was fun, bu I didn't have the time or money to continue.
- Visit Krakaw, Poland, with my brother in spring; go to the US and visit Amy in the summer (yay!). Maybe go on another trip in the fall for my parents' 40th wedding anniversary? I did NOT go to Poland (sadface) but I DID go to the US! Which was a lot of fun! I also went to Crete, Greece, with my family for my parents' wedding anniversary, which was great.

Knitting/Sewing
- Finish my Celestarium shawl Finished!
- Knit a new hat uhhh started? Lol
- The Celtic Myths shawl finished! Started it while watching the last season of Game of Thrones, which was the only good thing to come off that season.
- A fisherman sweater/gansey started but it's not working out like how I wanted.
- The 17th century stockings Didn't finish but it was still a great project.
- New gloves did this!
- Sew a skirt and two dresses  I made like six skirts and no dresses? Lol.

Other hobby stuff
- More sketching/drawing. Attend the monthly urban sketching meetings and maybe even the Urban Sketching symposium in Amsterdam. I did attend the symposium! It was a lot of fun, even if it just happened to be during the hottest days of the year (as in, record-breaking 38-40 degrees Celsius, geez) which is not a great temperature to be in a city.
- Take ukulele lessons Did this! Lot of fun, learning a lot.
- Learn to juggle (hope springs eternal, lol) lol fail again.
- Practice photography; make photobooks of my past vacations  Ehh sort of did this? I did a nighttime photography workshop in New York, which was nice, and I made a photobook of my US trip as a gift for Amy. :p

Overall not a bad list. :)
