This song is my security blanket. When I am feeling alone, insecure, and defenseless, I think of this song and picture binding the power of God to myself like I'm wrapping myself up in an all-encompassing blanket.

It's a good song all right. And, as you know, one of my favorites.

Whenever I sing this song - which is attributed to St. Patrick - I have a mental image of him standing high on a sea cliff holding his staff and with the wind blowing his long white hair and beard.

The part which makes me feel safe is the verse that begins, "Christ be with me, Christ within me."
