I came downstairs the first morning and he had taken a large container of catnip down from a high shelf, took the lid off and spread it everywhere! Then he laid in it as if to show me how proud he was of his accomplishment. At least I learned he has the catnip gene. Not all cats do.
He's a bit overweight, but I expect with better food and more exercise, he'll slim down.
For Salem, taking her in my arms and flipping her on her back is an instant calming thing when she's too crazy. In the snap of two fingers, she's purring and sleepy in my arms that way. And she stays like that, too.
She doesn't seem to be a "back sleeper" otherwise though so I don't know.
I need to make her a little bed type thing, too but I like that she sleeps on the bed with me, too. I have the perfect space that I could do something for her, as a way of saving space.
I have a huge cat tree with plenty of places for sleeping. I have another cat who's hogging it, though. They will get along better eventually. I hope. *fingers crossed*
Thank you! I was told he's about four years old. I suspect he was mistreated. He dumped his food bowl and immediately ran from me to hide halfway under the couch. I could only laugh as his head was the only part that was hidden.
I hope he soon settles in and becomes less scared. I'm owned by 4 ginger cats, one of whom I adopted from Greece. My LJ is devoted to them and their adventures.
Thanks for your lovely comment. That's so nice of you. He is quite handsome. He's got a large black spot on his back with a narrow white stripe, hence the name "Stripe." It's not his permanent name, just something to call him for now. My other cat's name is Bellatrix LaStrange from Harry Potter. She's a spitfire. I was thinking about naming him Snape or Weasly but neither suits him. His name will come to me. Eventually. Love the gif!
