Xander’s doom arrives in three phases.

First, Gnarl’s poison paralyzes Dawn. She’s on the couch, stiff, frozen. Xander stands, looking her over - her helplessness frightening and (weirdly) titillating - and she can tell he’s studying her so searchingly to be sure she’s okay.

Second, she finds out she’s not actually a Potential. And he tells her she isn’t special … she’s extraordinary.

Finally, he drugs and kidnaps her. To keep her safe. So infuriating. So insulting. So sweet.

She got over her silly crush months ago. But this … this is just too much.

She’s marrying this doofus. He doesn’t stand a chance.
