The remains of the day.

After a 1:30 am force feeding and hydration, during the wee hours of the morning, two of the kittens died. Robert got to them before I did and saved me from having to lay eyes on and handle two lifeless little furry bodies, and for that I am grateful. They were wrapped and put in a box for burial under a tree in my back yard, and I know this ( Read more... )

I couldn't tell you from a medical standpoint of course, but the act of capturing cats and kittens puts them under great stress, and that weakens their immune system, and this is lighting the fuse. Maybe the potential was there in waiting, and pushing the stress and weakening their system is what ignites it.

Captured feral kittens will break out with panleuk within days. I don't understand all the science behind it, and I'm not going to research it further. I know too much already, in practical terms.
