Maybe you can find a group on yahoogroups or somewhere online with a discussion group of people who've been through that sort of trauma or works with certain phobias where you can at least talk to other people who are going through some of the same things as you. I can't imagine the toll that's taking on you to be worried and loosing sleep and being in fear/afraid for your life.. :(

Possibly books at the library maybe??

Can you keep a paper journal and write down your thoughts in there when those things happen?

If I can think of anything else or find an online resource I'll let you know. Fire extinguishers are good to have, and at least you're being proactive and preventing a fire from occurring.. Best wishes.
