I am fortunate to be able to walk to work now. I used to work in Cardiff and had to get there by train. I was about half an hours walk from Cardiff Castle-

Before that I worked in Merthyr Tydfil where they almost have a castle- at least a castellated manor house, built by the Iron-master William Crawshay-

We have a surfeit of castles in the UK. Lol
But America has such gorgeous areas of natural beauty that are ancient too- the Grand Canyon, Niagra Falls, the Rockies and all those areas where dinosaur fossils are found- you cant get much more historical than that!

Ah, you remind me of my visit to that very castle and staying in that pretty little house on the grounds. I'm so happy for you that you get to walk to work now!

I bought a can of Bird's Custard Powder at a specialty store the other day, and every time I use it I think of Sunday dinner at your house. What a delight it was to be in Wales. Thank you again! Hugs to you and the family. :))
