This is makes me feel like crying. But me getting all weepy aside, the things I loved in no particular order: the language, the absolutely fucking amazing style, the insight, getting into LeBoeuf's head and Mattie, smart, absolutely practical Mattie, the ending, those last sentences. ♥
I've been absorbed and transported by this story this morning. Really good writing and such a touching story about pride and choices. First, it was different to have LaBoeuf's POV, but it had much more than novelty value going for it - you got the voice so right (vocab, formality) and he was a great choice as the narrator of this story, with what he did realise and what he didn't engaging this reader as events unfolded. And I loved the moments of poetry, that is, the lines where details or feelings were heightened, illuminating all that had gone on.
Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment. I'm very glad to hear that you enjoyed it, and it's great to get feedback on what worked. Thanks so much for reading, and especially for commenting - it's tremendously appreciated!
