Very beautiful! I'll have to agree with some of the other comments: let something like this please happen on the show! Let them (S/B) just talk about everything and stop shouting at each other!

I'd love that, too. It's a complicated situation, and it becomes yet more complicated when they're not doing a great job of communicating themselves to each other without someone getting their feelings hurt. Poor things! We'll just have to hope they pull through.

This is the first proper Downton fic that I've read and I adore it! I think you've captured their voices perfectly. It's both beautiful and angsty, all at the same time. :-)
