I'm less certain than ever about what the problem is with my computer. I ran memtest86 again before going to bed last night, and got up this morning to see that it had completed seven passes without errors and was a good way through its eighth. I ran some SMART-monitoring tools today to have a look at the hard drive, and no errors were reported

Have you kept a good eye on your gnomes? Are you sure they aren't causing shit?

I would guess it's the gnomes.

You make an interesting point, but the gnomes are back home in Sarnia. Can they do that long distance like that?
