Of bikes and computers

I went for a bike ride for the first time in years last night. My thighs were a little bit sore for a few minutes after, and right now my butt is sore from the seat, but all in all it went better than I'd hoped. I was afraid that it would be too difficult and I'd be reluctant to go out again, but I guess the nearby trails are generally flat enough ( Read more... )

With the exception of gaming, you can still do everything else you need on a 800Mhz Pentium III, and 256 MBs of RAM, and not feel slowed down, assuming you're using older software.

I'd definitely say it's worth it, but I think I'm a bigger gamer than you.

PS

It might not be a bad idea to invest is a good bike seat, considering your luscious booty. Not sure where to find someone with good info in that area. Seems to me that most bikers, and bike experts, are skinny fucks.

It's because they bike! :-D But yeah, it might be a good idea to get a better seat. Dunno if I should hit a bike shop or what for that.

As for the computer, I'm probably still going to get one. It'll improve such games as I do play, and I think the fact that I like computers is a reasonable enough reason to get one (especially since we're talking after five years here; it's not like I'm looking at a new one every year).

I say Brandon seems to know a thing or two about bike seats.

as for the computer, I really recommend canadacomputers.com or infonec.com both of which are in Mississauga.

the nice thing is that you can get 2G of ram for $90 now. as for processor, its really how much you want to spend, you can get a decent AMD system for $700, or spend $900 for a decent (much better than the AMD) for around $900 (if you build your own.) (I made my own AMD box for $400 X2 3800, with 512 ram and 80Gb HDD, you could make the same system with 1G ram and a 500Gb HDD for the same price now, not a gaming system though)

Quad Core seems a bit much right now, especially since they are $650 for the processor. I would recommend any dual core chip and a $200 Video Card

Oh, I'm not going for a quad core right now. They're expensive, and most consumer software doesn't really take advantage of multiple processor cores yet anyway. A dual core chip should handle my needs and mild multitasking just fine, since my single core chip doesn't struggle too hard. I'm more interested in the AMD quad cores for the way they'll affect the prices of the stuff already on the market ( ... )
