Oh god take a pack of tissues. Seriously. This is the film that made me realise I had absolutely no idea how good an actor Benedict Cumberbatch is. It's funny and heartbreaking and I still cry over it sometimes after two months!!

Really glad you liked the fic. I've never written a death before so I was really nervous about it.

It was his favourite place in the world, and he wanted to die there. I don't actually know why he chose drowning. Easier to make it look like he'd gone alone?

The impression I got from the movie is that he didn't want it to look like he committed suicide so much as accidentally drowned. He also didn't want anyone to get charged with 'killing' him as I recall.

You might want to consider putting the euthanasia & suicide warning behind a cut tag and perhaps adding a note that this story is a spoiler for the movie Third Star? Cause some people might not want to be spoiled for that.
