I am very pleased, I did my first concert since my injury yesterday, and it went well. I was playing one of the solo parts in Beethoven's triple concerto (violin, cello and piano) with an amateur orchestra in Edinburgh in Canongate. I got to wear my ballgown which was fun, too. I am fed up with internet dating sites. I have tried quite a few over the last few years and keep coming up against the same problem, which is immensely frustrating. There will be an initial contact then a few, maybe 2 or 3 emails, will go back and forth, and then all of a sudden, nothing. Zilch. Nada. I have not been playing the cello for over a month now. I developed bursitis (inflamation of the protective bag between tendon and muscle), had that treated with physio and steroid injection, then discovered there is an underlying tendonitis, so I am currently waiting for that to clear up, having had more injections. At last. I am taking my father in to a lovely nursing home tomorrow, officially for respite but probably for good. It is such a relief to know that Mum will not have to cope with him at home. It has been a bit of a mammoth task to persuade her that she is not actually the bionic woman, at 79 with a bad back and legs, and that she really shouldn't ( Read more... )

I have just put up my photos and a video of my holiday on Mull and Iona. The highlight was a trip on the wee boat from Iona to Staffa, as we had dolphins playing in the surf the boat was making, then on top of Staffa we had puffins come right up to us (we keep away the big gulls, so they feel safer to come out when humans are around).

So I now have a symmetrical age, I think 44 sounds pretty good, actually! I went for a great meal last night at a South Indian restaurant in Tollcross. I had a fantastic fishy starter, really hot!
