Since the person who asked me this is someone I care a lot about, and I have wondered the same thing myself, I thought I would ask some other people

Most of the women who try to change their man are "Women who love too much." I suggest you read this if you haven't already, it's by Robin Norwood, I'd let you borrow my copy buy Jennie's stupid ex threw it out. We are fragile and we think that without a man we are less. We need think we need someone in our lives, and are willing to put up with what we shouldn't to keep that someone.
But that's my opinion.
