thank you gwen. sadfjkl; reading this post bothers me now because i really am not into self-pity. but i don't know. it's important to me and i really am scared.
and idk! another one commonly used is a BOSTON brace! i think they're named after the cities they were invented/are manufactured in?
it's hard for me to admit when i would like help/support from my friends, or even my family... like, my car broke recently, my father is a MECHANIC, and i still haven't called him to ask for help because i don't want to admit that i am weak/can't do it myself. so i understand a little bit how you feel about that. but just know your friends are here to listen and help if they can. ♥
jennie thank you. it is still really strange to me when people call me brave b/c of this. when i went through the surgeries people would CONSTANTLY come through my hospital room and be like WHAT A BRAVE LITTLE GIRL!! WHAT A TROOPER!! and i was just like '_' because ... what else do you really do? in her book lucy grealy talks about how all the adults gave her "ludicrously high points for being a good sport" and that kills me b/c that's EXACTLY what it is.
i am lucky to know you too.
& thank you!! i can't wait for thursday. i am just gonna COLLAPSE AT MY DOCTOR'S FEET and be like FIX MEEEEEE PLZZZZZZ.
I really appreciate you sharing this part of yourself. I think we all have aspects of our lives that are huge and important, but we often feel shy to talk about them for various (sometimes silly) reasons. Our bodies are fragile and amazing, and it is completely reasonable to be worried when they're trying to tell us something important.
Like Jennie said, I'm glad to know you. Good luck on Thursday!

i have scoliosis too, not nearly as severe as you have it, though. but i know the toll it can sometimes have on one's self-esteem/body image.
