Memorial day weekend

May 31, 2005 16:16

Okay, my weekend was a very eventful and long one, so there is much to talk about. I’ve divided the events into little subcategories so it’s easier to navigate.

Saturday: Arrive at Steven’s.

Like I usually do when I head down to Steven’s, I bummed a ride off my dad (he works down in Gloucester, roughly 5 minutes from Steven’s house.) Dad needs to be at work by 7am, so I had to get up at 4. I really didn’t get up, I just sort of laid in bed until 4:50 then brushed my hair and my teeth then unplugged my computer and brought it downstairs. I slept all the way down, and when I got to his house, I went right into the spare room and slept some more.

BB Guns and Basketball.

Woke up at around 10, then we watched tv and played around on the computer for a long time. Steven’s cousin, Chris called then came over to pick us up to go drop someone’s shirt off in Rockport. He has a Mustang, so, needless to say, we rode around town with the windows down blasting “Walk This Way” and some rap. We then went to Steven and Chris’s friend’s house, Jason to wake him up (it was like 2 o’clock in the afternoon.) We got to Jason’s and no rang the doorbell and no one answered, then we called his cell and still no answer. Finally, he came to the door and let us in. We hung out at his place for a bit and watch his cat be a retard and used his pellet gun to shoot at water bottles and the house in back of his through his window. Then Jason got dressed (that guy has more clothes than some girls) and we went to Stage Fort to play basketball.

Nice Move, Chris.

I started to get hungry watching the guys play basketball, so I grabbed my purse and Steven, and we walked to the end of the Boulevard to get some ice cream. I haven’t been to that ice cream place in the longest time, so it was pretty funny going in and being able to see over the counter. Chris and Jason drove down to meet us out front and Chris said that his car was making some funny noise. The right front edge of the frame was sitting on top of the tire, and it looked at though the spring had snapped. He said that he spun out in the dirt up by the court and then heard a snap. Good one. So after we finally assessed the problem and called AAA and the tow company, Steven got a craving for pumpkin seeds, so me and him walked around the corner to Trupiano’s. By the time we got the seeds and walked back, the car was still parked and not moving. We waited on the Boulevard for about an hour in the sun (it wasn’t raining in Mass. Apparently it poured up here) then Steven’s mom came and picked us up and we went home.

Somewhere Beyond the Sea.

Saturday night we were talking to Nick (my best friend from elementary school) online. We told him we were coming over. In the end we decided not to and just stayed in and watched TV. The next morning, the whole family went out for breakfast at Lobsta Land. We came home and I told Steven I wanted to go to the beach and take some pictures. His house is about 2 minutes from the beach, so we walked down there, crossed the beach, and then started walking up the back shore. I remembered us forgetting Nick the night before, so I called his house (I still have his # memorized since 2nd grade) and his mom picked up. I asked if he was there, she said no but you can try his cell phone, who’s this? I told her and he was like, “Oooh, how are you? How come you guys didn’t come over last night?” I just said it got too late then asked what his cell number was. She didn’t even know it off the top of her head, but found it somewhere and gave it to me. I called that and got some thing saying that he didn’t have a voicemail set up. A lot of good that did us. We were halfway around the backshore when we called, so instead of walking all the way to Nick’s house, we just went over the rail where we were and sat on the rocks for a long time. Steven started singing “Beyond the Sea” and I joined him. Because most of you don’t know what the backshore is, I’ll just say that it’s ironic because we were sitting there facing this vast ocean on some rocks. There were people walking by and we sang at the top of our voices.

Ah, just like old times.

We got home and ate dinner and were trying to see what Steven’s cousin was up to that night (since he didn’t have a car anymore, we figured it wasn’t much). Then I went online and told Nick, “we’re coming over tonight instead” to his away message. We went back on at about 6 then saw that got the message. There were relatives at his house that night and he told us to come over around 9. We did. When we got there, I walked in and saw that in 4 years nothing had changed. His grandmother was there and said, “I haven’t seen you since you were little.” His dad saw me and shook my hand and asked how I’ve been. His mom asked me how I was as well. After his dad shook my hand, he turned to Steven and gave him a look that said, “not to be rude, but who the hell are you?” Steven had been to Nick’s house before, but it was ages ago, so clearly his dad had forgotten who he was. Steven just stood there and said, “Hi, I’m Steve, I’ve been here before.” Nick’s dad tried to make up for it by saying, yeah, you were shorter then, but he probably barely remembered.

Shave it… please.

Nick was in the kitchen with his parents and his friend, Chris. He grew this goatee that makes him look like he’s 35, and he’s only 16. I doubt he reads this, but he looks better without it. We all went into the living room, at the other end of the house, after that. Walking to the living room when I was younger seemed like a longer walk than it does now. We hung out and played around on the computer for a bit, then decided we were bored. It was maybe 9:30 and we walked to the beach down the street. It started to rain a little, and we got bored again.

Friendly’s and Golfcarts

My suggestion to boredom, was to go and get and ice cream. It was almost 10 and the 4 of us hopped into Nick’s Audi and drove to Friendly’s. Once we got our ice cream, we just drove around town looking for something to do and blasting techno/dance music. We got back at around 12 and took the cart out for another spin. Nick’s friend stayed inside, so it was me, him and Steven. We were riding around for a bit then got bored and I got my camera. I took like 3 pictures and we assessed that the flash was far too bright for that time of night. Eventually, we just rode around some more and slid in the grass (we looked for a sled to slide on the wet grass, but couldn’t find one.)

And that was that.

I’ll load pictures, too of the weekend.
