Lately at work I’ve been daydreaming about living in a cottage by the ocean. Riding a bike to pick up fresh fruit like the Barefoot Contessa (a show I always watch when I’m not at work on Saturday mornings). I wonder where I got this from, I think my mom who always wanted to live near water. Maybe its because it is freezing here (freezing ( Read more... )

remember James that used to hang out at my house a lot? His mom IS the barefoot contessa- they look EXACTLY the same. And I feel you on sometimes wanting to live the simple, rural life- until I want to get a date that is

What if this tiny costal community on the shore had a strong gay following? Like Fire Island but with more attractive people. http://www.fireislandqnews.com/

Come visit me. We'll hang out on the beach.

I bet I can even find some place to pick fruit. And at the very least, there's always a rotten coconut or two at the beach. ;)

i think that between the group of us we ought to purchase some horribly shaby beach house in the middle of nowhere...and we could take turns living there long enough to rejuvenate and start to miss our regular life, then hand the keys over to someone else.

I agree! That would be the coolest thing ever...until the beach house becomes the notebook and no one remembers where it is or something.

where is that notebook? Keira?!? Do you have it??!

Um. Maybe.

That's not the point though

The price of owning a beach house around here is astronomical. Non-beach-side houses down here cost 3x as much as a comparable hous in Indiana. I know people who are paying $600 a month in insurance and $5000 (roughly)a year in property taxes. And there are those pesky laws in a lot of Florida neighborhoods that demand one owner be in the house for six months a year.

Um...hypothetically, if I have the notebook, who gets it next?

Do you have any of Ina Garten's cookbooks? She has some fabulous recipes!
