Why is so hard for a well-educated person to find a job these days? I went to university, got two degrees and then on to grad school to get a masters. While, my choice of study for my masters might be limiting in the practical sense, the "skills" I learned in grad school can be very well translated to other jobs. I know your pain. Well, not as much, because you're much more edumacated than I am. What are you using to find job openings? If you're just sticking with the internet, then you're missing out on a lot of opportunities.
Try looking up companies that could be in your field or that you would be interested in working for, call them up, ask to speak to an HR rep or someone who has hiring power.
Also, placement agencies aren't too bad either. Maybe see if there is a company that deals with your field.

At this point in time, I'm out of a job in 17 work days, so I'm looking too.

Linds, I'm right there with ya...it seems like everyone says "you have a university degree, you must be able to get something better!" but nooo. Yes, I agree with Steff, because if I don't get back on a ship I'll also be going to placement agencies.

god , isn't it frustrating have to keep on "tweaking??" Argh!

so ok, I DO have some connections...what is your area of academia again? I'll see what I can perhaps do...spread the word around a bit with some of my corporation relatives...

chin up! and I'm sure that what you're doing for Chris, simply being there with him and being, well, you! is worth everything to him. So don't worry about that...even though I know it's hard not to, as an independent woman.

I think we need to get together and rent "Friends With Money." lol

I was totally there with you, when I first graduated. How on earth can someone be a University Grad, and only able to get a $12/hr job doing data entry? I donno - but that was absolutely the case for me. With a two years of hard work, and constant interviewing, I finally found a "career" that I love. I hope that I can offer a couple of tips that might stear you towards success in your hunt ( ... )
