OHMYGOD THERE'S A PART II TO TMA aka larp love of my life.
*faints*
Also, I totally just found a group that runs a day of LARPing near Chicago whilst Googling TMA. They seem to charge money for this, which is, uh, kind of not great, but, ah, yeah. I also can't really find much info on the group that runs it.
Also I am a dork and looked at what appears to be the page for next year's Intercon and it made me regret slightly my decision to be out of the country at the time, as there are games that look interesting if they are indeed happening and it is not just some cruel joke.
I needs to get more practice at this. There is one happening here again this year, but I can't do it 'cause I have a huge huge project due the next day. I am hoping there are some good weekend-long ones next semester.
Ah. Let's see. Things I haven't mentioned from the Festival of LARPs:
In Alice, my character kiiiind of had Jen's character killed off. Sorry Jen! But it was for love. I attempted to kill someone near the end, but she misremembered something and I deferred to her beliefs. It was later pointed out to me that I should have fetched a GM. Whoops. I interpreted my character as a sort of minion, but this proved problematic when I was not really given minion-y tasks to do or opportunities to be properly obsequious by the person I was trying to suck up to. The Caterpillar and I were totally buds, though. Oh, and I stole Emily's money while she was unconscious. She then ripped me off. After she had already ripped me off, providing the motivation for my theft.
In Oz, I got sketched-out in-character by someone who it was really unhelpful to get sketched-out by XD And, as previously alluded to, my faithful companion was a bit less than enthusiastic, although I can't say whether or not he was supposed to be as out of it as he was. It's a bit frustrating, because I realized afterward a lot of things I should have done. I really liked the world of the game, though, and the other characters.
In the League of Extraordinary Hogwarts Students, I spent the vast majority of the game being a tremendous bitch. It was extraordinarily fun^^ I spent a lot of time making snide remarks to the Mudbloods and snickering at them in passing; either that or being chastised by my uncle, then apologizing demurely and assuring him it wouldn't happen again before running off to inadvertently cause more mischief.
As far as plot goes, I feel like a couple of my goals were designed to be thwarted or made irrelevant. As far as another one of my goals, being the pragmatic Slytherin that I was, I decided that I'd let the industrious Gryffindor do all the work, then swoop in at the end and use whatever she'd discovered, thus leaving me more time to harass people, but, alas she did not quite get to the point where I could do so. A strategy was also suggested to me by one of the GMs very early on, but this was rendered impossible by the fact that I had managed to piss off a lot of people.
And then there were ten minutes left in the game and I hadn't yet used my "burn things" spell, as previously mentioned. So I used it. This resulted in what one of the GMs referred to as one of the best quotes of the game. MWAHAHAHA.
In the gamewrap, it seemed like a lot of people hadn't actually managed to accomplish their goals. This made me feel less bad about not doing so either.
I totally want to chat with people from the previous run. You know who you are =P
I was in Oz and LXHS with Good Sir Sheena and he was impressive in both. Props to Sheena.
I had a lot of fun costuming for each game. My outfits thankfully did not require any new purchases.
Ah. Being a relative n00b, I am not sure if I have revealed too much/not enough. If I have gone to either pole, please let me know and I will fix it.
Overall, 'twas a good experience, and I have gained XP in larping and hopefully I can gain more and then lvl up in the future and be better at it. w00t. My computer is acting a little funny. It probably wants me to turn it off for a bit. Which I may do. But it had better turn back on.
