Life has been busy

and the in-laws are coming on Thursday!

This past weekend was spent getting ready for Steve's parents to visit.  Changed all the sheets in the guest bedrooms, washed towels, grocery shopped, etc.  They will be arriving on Thursday afternoon and leaving next Tuesday. So far, we have planned a dinner at Fleming's Steak House on Friday Night.  Will probably take them to our favorite local Italian place on Thursday night.  Steve also told his mom that I'm going to Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale on Friday morning, so they might come along.  Steve's mom is very generous, so I think he wants her to take him shopping.  Men!  :)  One day Steve wants to smoke ribs for his parents, too.  We're also planning on going to church on Sunday and then visiting some of Steve's mom's sisters, several of whom actually live in Orange County, though we never see them.

Work has been busy because I am taking Friday and Monday off.  I have to give a presentation to a bunch of HR people tomorrow on two subjects I know nothing about-the WARN Act and the USERRA Act.  It's about as exciting as it looks.  Yeah, great fun.  Will be glad when that is over!

In house news, our landscaper should be tiling our one side yard any day now.  The builder agreed to let him tile it after they destroyed our concrete.  I am excited-a free upgrade for us!  I also ordered dining room furniture.  The chairs came yesterday-I chose white slip-covered parsons chairs-8 of them.  They look funny without any furniture!  I special ordered a dining cabinet and hutch (in white wash), as well as a table (in dark brown-I love the dark brown and white contrast-my current furniture addiction/design scheme!).  I wanted something more rustic and Spanish-looking, less traditional, and not something that everyone else has, if that makes any sense.  Here's the table we went with-I wish it was here already.  I am in love with it!

Our sick dog, Daphne, is doing a lot better.  She's on steroids until her insides calm down.  Hopefully we'll be able to wean her off of them without any consequences.  The new food seems to help her IBD, so we'll see.  Our other dog, Buster, is healthy and happy as a clam, as usual.  ;)

Not much else going on.  My mom had a facelift 3 weeks ago and can't stop bragging about how she has absolutely no wrinkles, how good she looks, how much weight she's lost, etc.  What else is new????!!!!???  I still haven't seen her yet, since she spent her time recovering at her boyfriend's house.  I have to admit, I'm curious.  I am not against plastic surgery, and in fact, if my skin was hanging down I'd think about having a facelift, too.  It's just the bragging that is so incredibly annoying.  How much more full of herself can she get?

Oh, but only 5 1/2 weeks until our trip to Mexico.  I can't wait-I'm dying for a REAL vacation with my hubby!!!!!
