My dogs can tell when I am dancing and when I am just moving pragmatically. Their ears perk up, and they wag their tails and jump around. In some ways, that's not that startling or awesome, but in other ways, that is totally startling and awesome.

Now you just need to teach them to be able to tell when you're putting the numbers in the wrong box on tax forms.

The day they teach dogs to do taxes, I will get a dozen.

(that is startling and awesome)

You know, it is a short leap from sensitivity of joyous artistic performance to taxes (this is why so many ballerinas eventually make the career change to accounting), so maybe some training is in order.

Of course, you only have to do the taxes once a year--you might be better off renting a dozen dogs in March than trying to keep them occupied with pre-season tax prep all winter long. They can see right through busy work.

Maybe I could hide bits of cheese in the filing cabinet, that keep 'em motivated.

Poor ballerinas. They should become David Byrne stage dancers instead of accountants.
