So I'm listening to Once More with Feeling (the Buffy musical, for the uninitiated) on my new iPod, and having pleasant feelings/memories about watching the show. Even though I didn't start watching it until 2004, when it was on syndication on TNT or something at 7:00 am, I feel like I can honestly say it's the first show that I've loved -- the ( Read more... )

"I'm the Doctor by the way. What's your name?"
"Rose."
"Nice to meet'cha Rose. Run for your life!"

Have you started with the new good Doctor with Eccleston or Tennant?

I started with season one on Netflix, so Eccleston, but I did catch the episode with Anthony Stewart Head before I did that, so I've seen Tennant too.

David Tennant is so goofy, until you remember him as Barty Crouch Jr.; then he's just scary... I don't know. I'm sure I'l love him, but I'm a bit apprehensive. Apparently the season 2 DVDs come out next week so that's exciting!

In other Doctor Who related news, there is this online process that I do at work where we can "impersonate" a user of our website. We literally have to click a button that says "impersonate" and today for some reason, I have had this Dalek in my head going "Immm-PER-so-NATE!! ImmmmpersoNATE!"

Holy crap that is hillarious. I can see them making some eps with the Daleks where they buzz that instead...

Have you seen "The Empty Child" / "The Doctor Dances" yet? That's the two-parter that really creeped me out and made me fall in love with the show. After seeing "TEC," I spent that whole week looking over my shoulder all the time.

As for Tennant, he gets better as the eps in S2 go on, but he is quite different than Ecceleston in how he attacks problems and such. Tennant's best so far is probably either "The Girl in the Fireplace" or "The Impossible Planet" / "The Satan Pit."

Since we have to wait 'til April for S3 to come out, though, it's a damn good thing the Jack Bauer Power Hour is starting up again very soon to hold everyone over before the good Doctor returns. "THERE'S NOT ENOUGH TIME!"

Yeah, the only theory I have for the Buffyverse seasons always ending in the threat of the end of the world is that once you do it, the line in the sand has been drawn, the stakes have been raised as high as they possibly can. So if, for example, Glory threatens to turn Earth into Hell in Season 5, then Willow going all Dark Phoenixy and then just threatening to kill everyone at the Bronze, that just wouldn't cut it....she has to threaten the Earth with complete annihilation, otherwise, why would we care?

I haven't watched either show in awhile. Maybe I should dig out my DVDs...I still haven't bought Season 7. I can only think of three really good episodes. It's hard to warrant the purchase.

Yes! I watched Serenity first and then a girl that Chris works with lent us the series. I love it. I love Mal the most, but I love all of it. So sad that it is no more.
