I've been very lax about keeping up in my journal there are many reasons for this, the largest one is, because I am tried of being told that I come off as pretentious. I have a hard time dealing with people, because I am way too alert for my own good and the subtle nuances of humans annoy me

I don't think you are pretentious... and sometimes you need people that you don't learn from... but that you can jut have fun with...

I say: What a shame. I get a great deal of enjoyment from trying to 'figure people out.' Everyone is so different... there is so much diversity and so many surprises out there.

Perhaps your 'alertness' is tainting your ability to relax, and appreciate the intricacies of life.
