The native American tongue of Algonquin has been revived in Southeastern Virginia.
Growing up in Hampton, Virginia-- there are so many references to the language of the native Americans:
streets were named: Alleghany Road, Kecoughtan Road, Shenadoah Road, Chesapeake Bay, Matoka. Rivers: Potomac, Anacostia,
Rappahannock.
Virginia is celebrating the 400th anniversary of Jamestown Colony; and a feature movie is being filmed about all this. Taking a cue from Mel Gibson, the research for the film has lead to an unexpected treasure: reviving a long lost language.
