Just a warning: it's going to be a lot of wedding talk from here on out so I'll try to hide it all under a cut in case it gets annoying for any of you. :B
We decided to try to have the date in November of this year, which, it turns out, is a little shorter notice than conventional. As a result, we're moving super fast on getting things done. We at first considered western-style (western to me, normal to I'm guessing a lot of you) reception sites, but with my dad's alarming and ever-changing guest count, those type of venues turn out to be pretty inflexible about the guest count. So, we turned to Chinese restaurants instead. We looked at two and had lunch at both and decided to go with the first one we tried. It's going to be a great venue! We have the entire right side of the restaurant so there's more privacy, plus a connected patio for spill off or just in case anyone wants to step out for fresh air. :D Now we need to look at indoor ceremony sites on the peninsula... indoor because it might be cold outside. If anyone has any suggestions, please do toss them my way. This is also the first wedding my parents have ever helped out with so they're just as newbish as Josh and I are.
Then, on the same day we placed the deposit, my sister Amy, maid of honor, declared, "LET'S GO LOOK AT DRESSES!" Josh was still with us and I am not superstitious at all about him seeing me in the dress, so he came along with my sisters, mom, and me to Bay Area Bridal to check out the dresses. He really seemed to enjoy it all; he said it felt like getting a peek behind doors usually closed to men. I tried on six and ended up really, really liking two of them. One is on the higher end of my budget and the other is just outside of it. I'm still going to look at dresses in a few more places before I make a decision though. I know of someone who's having hers custom done in China even so I want to know how happy she was with the experience - how's the quality of the fabric, etc.
I do have a dream dress too. Want to know what my dream dress is?
Do you wanna?
Do you wanna???
Well, okay then! I came across this while surfing theknot.com:
I think it's awesome, but it's close to 5k. Hahahaha... What if I were to find a simple A-line dress and sew little flowers all over it? Hmmm...
