I'm sorry. I think one of the worst things people do is to assume "others" can't understand their given situation. It's presumptions like these that impede change. As long as we keep telling each other "you can't possibly understand," we continue an atmosphere of the "other" that prevents any true healing. Instead of saying "you can't understand," we should focus on an environment of open exchange that can foster cross-boundaries comprehension of our unique experiences.
