2008 Book List

Fiction
1. Tithe, Holly Black (2002, 331 pages) Review Here
2. Twilight, Stephenie Meyer (2005, 498 pages) Series Review Here
3. New Moon, Stephenie Meyer (2006, 563 pages)
4. Eclipse, Stephenie Meyer (2007, 629 pages)
5. Dies the Fire, S.M. Stirling, (2004, 529 pages)
5. The Protector's War, S.M. Stirling (2006, 591 pages)
7. Meeting at Corvallis, S.M. Stirling (currently reading, and review to follow. Initial impression is that it's fascinating but the world-building is too heavy-handed and the emotional connections between the characters is the authors weakest point.)
8. Dhampir, Barb & J.C. Hendee (2003, 376)
9. One Good Knight, Mercedes Lackey (2006, 393) (completely forgettable)
10. Wolfblade, Jennifer Fallon (2006, 627)
11. The Weaver and the Factory Maid, Deborah Grabien (2003, 182) (thoroughly charming)
12. The Curse of Chalion, Lois McMaster Bujold (2001, 502 ) (worth reading the follow up books)
13. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows (2008, 274) Review Here
14. Sabriel, Garth Nix (1995, 491 pages) (currently reading Lirael and will hold reviews until I finish the series)
15. Pleasure Unbound, Larissa Ione (2008, 389pages) (amusing but not enough to read another)
16. Then You Hide, Roxanne St. Claire (2008, 349 pages)
17. Storm Front, Jim Butcher (2000, 322 pages) (I'm only on the second book in the series, so the review will come a bit later on, but it's good enough to read them all. The world-building is clever and intricate and the protagonist is sympathetic.)
18. The Brass Verdict, Michael Connelly (2008, 405 pages) (loved it; the writing is excellent; review to follow)
19. First You Run, Roxanne St. Clair (2008, 368 pages) (This was an unexpected pleasure, a gift from my great-aunt, and I'll add this review when I finish the series; the third book comes out in August)
20. Fool Moon, Jim Butcher (2001, 342 pages)
21. The Man Who Never Missed, Steve Perry (1986, 208 pages) (brilliant series for a number of reasons; series review to follow)

23. The Matadora, Steve Perry (1986, 224 pages)
24. The Machiavelli Interface, Steve Perry (1986, 208 pages)
25. The Albino Knife, Steve Perry (1991, 304 pages)
26. Black Steel, Steve Perry (1992, 256 pages)
27. Brother Death, Steve Perry (2003, 256 pages)
28. The Lincoln Lawyer, Michael Connelly (2005, 505 pages)
29. The Hero and the Crown, Robin McKinley (1984, 227 pages)
30. The Blue Sword, Robin McKinley (1982, 272 pages) (acceptable YA mythological fantasy adventure, but a disappointment on a re-read; still, it's worth giving as a gift to a young teenaged girl for a coming-of-age story.)
31. Warrior, Jennifer Fallon (2005, 562 pages)
32. Warloard, Jennifer Fallon (2005, 617 pages) (I liked the series more than I expected. I'd read more of her work. Series review to follow)
33. Devil May Cry, Sherrilyn Kenyon (2007, 358 pages) (very disappointing, but rounds out my study of the writers' growth.)
34. Acheron, Sherrilyn Kenyon (2008, 725 pages) (Three words: redundant, excessive back-story. Add overblown hyperbole and my disappointment is complete. Series review to follow.)
35. Medalon, Jennifer Fallon (2000, 484 pages)
36. Treason Keep, Author (2001, 503 pages)
37. Harshini, Author (2001, 489 pages) Series Review Here
