Still, your furniture is pretty swag compared to what we had. Love that you have room for your fridge under the top bunk half!
I'm just glad it wasn't scratched up metal or something like that. Wood is fairly decent. I love the storage space under my bed but I actually cannot climb up on it without getting on a chair first. But I like my storage space...so I guess I'll have to invest in a footstool or something of that nature to help me up. It doesn't look like it in the picture or the video but the bed actually comes up to my chest.
Re: bathrooms - wear flip flops/shower shoes. Trust me on this. Also, just towel yourself off, put on a robe and go back to your room to change - it'll keep your clothes from getting all wet.I was thinking about getting shower shoes today but then I realized I had no idea where I'd buy something like that. And I think that if I don't get a roommate this year, I'll just get a robe and do that. If I do, I'll just have some clothes I designate "shower clothes" and put them on after I shower so I can
( ... )
Uhh...yeah, no. First a guy actually did speak, then the room FLOODED with these orientation helper people and then got on stage and fucking DANCED. I shit you not: they danced.
Oh LOL they did that for us too. The Southern Styles~~~
That "Education, Society, and the K-12 Learner" class sounds SO NIFTY I WANT TO TAKE IT.
DOES EVERY SCHOOL HAS A CROSBY HALL? I'M PRETTY SURE USM HAS ONE TOO. THAT'S JUST WEIRD.
... LAYNE. YOUR. YOUR VIDEO YOU'RE SO ADORABLE I COULD CRY ;_______; I miss you ;____;
But yay, things look so fancy, and you are going to be so awesome, and :DDDDDDD NEW SCHOOL :DDDDD NOT THE RIVER :DDDDDDD
It'll all work I'm sure. I'm almost positive you should be in a higher level of Japanese but I'm sure they'll sort you out. Either way you are studying Japanese at Uni and that is awesome!
Also your dorm looks pretty decent! Your beds are crazy tall though, like...do you jump up there or what? ^__^
I have two tips for you for these first few weeks which you've probably worked out already
1) Don't panic. People swap around and move about a lot in the first few months. Don't worry. Plus, the uni wants to keep you happy because if you are happy, you stay and the longer you stay the more funding they get for you! So. Push for what you want.
2) Do everything, go everywhere, talk to everyone. Be as social as you can stand. Seriously. It'll set you up for the year and the rest of your time there.
Ha ha, yeah, on the first day (like I'm about to update about) I figured that my level is...a lot higher than most of my classmates but I'm going to stick with it this semester because my schedule is already set in stone.
They're adjustable, actually but I just...can't adjust it down from what the previous girl had it. So I use a chair to climb up on it every night :D:
I'm trying not to panic but sometimes, like today when I had to chose between my books or a meal plan because I can't get a voucher for both, I got kind of wiggy because it's the Japanese class that's keeping me from getting my financial aid.
I'm actually attempting to be social, which is...strange for me. I spoke to several classmates today in my Into to Music class and found out that one of the girls in there lives on my floor. We kept going, "What dorm? What, Crosby, really? What floor? 10th? Are you serious?!" So I suppose if I have anyone I need to go with me, I could ask some of these girls :D
This is actually a lot like when I went through when I went to college at 18; I remember the empty, sinking, bizarre feeling when my mom left. It was just like... really? This is happening?
You will be over it sooner than later, and because you're older and have delt with a lot of your issues, you won't be like me and SLEEP AND RUIN YOUR GRADES BECAUSE OHOHOHOHOHOOOOOooooo I was retarded at 18. :(
God, yes! I'm like...wow, this is really happening?
Oh, man, this is one of my biggest worries? That I'll like...get run down and not care anymore or something. I know it won't happen but I've had bad semesters before and I don't want anymore at all.
I'm not gonna lie - I'm not really. My financial aid wouldn't go through, I couldn't resolve any of the issues in time, and I've had to withdraw (I was actually just coming to make a post about it.) I was really lonely and felt strange and I kind of had a breakdown on Tuesday and had to see a therapist on campus.
I'm kind of in shock over how quickly things turned out for the worst since things were going so well on Monday. It's just...really strange to me that I'm not a student there anymore and won't be.
