Last night I realized the only real security is giving up on security. I'd been having some worries, you know, all those "what ifs." And I examined them and tried to reassure myself that they were unfounded. But something still kept nagging me. Yup. That's a bit like what people mean when they say live in the moment rather than worrying about the past or future. It's quite freeing to not care because you can't do anything anyways. Too bad it is sometimes really difficult to do, especially when it's a serious issue (say for example, finding a job in California when the unemployment rate is in the double digits...)

Been gradually accepting the unknowability of things myself, and finding it a good experience so far. In some cases it frees me up to take minor risks where I'd otherwise have waited for clarity (for a long time). And of course there's some stuff which is just totally out of my hands... it'll happen if it happens, but I have no ability to control it, regardless of how I try.

Sounds like you're testing out a good path.

Something I have been struggling with for almost 10 years now. If you figure out how to stop playing the what if game and just live in the moment let me in on the secret.
