Pirates of the Caribbean: at World's End.If you haven't seen the last PoTC movie, and wish no spoiler, then pass by. If you have, and wish to discuss, make a stop. If you're bored, then by all mean, go see the movie

Good to see you post again! :D I saw Pirates on Friday as well and noted a few loose ends that have my mind constantly in a state of piracy. Or... pirate obsession. Something like that. Mostly, while I love the whole relieving post-credit ending, it still feels incomplete. If the purpose of the Dutchman and its captain is to ferry souls to the afterlife, I'd think it'd retain that purpose beyond 10 years. Which brings up the point that it still needs a captain, even with renewed purpose and redeemed crew, so who'd Will get to take his place? And if he returns to the world of the living, to be with his family, there's the small matter of his heart, beating in a chest. Does it magically get put back in? Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that they were reunited and she waited and it was so romantic, but those inconsistencies are making me a little crazy.
if Will's on a mission to save his father, how come Elizabeth is not allowed to do that? Because she didn't happen to make a promise? Bit biased, IMO.My take on this is that

Hmm. I thought that he was coming back again for just one day, after the ten years. To meet his son (was it just me, or did he totally look like a girl?), to be with Elizabeth, knock her up again :P, etc. But permanently? I don't think so. Wasn't it that the Dutchman needed a new captain *if* the old one died?
And even if there's a way to *transfer* captainship to another person, I don't think Will would do that to anyone. It's a curse, and a punishment, after all, and he's too noble to inflict such damage to someone else (damn him! :P).
I'd agree with you on that last part; really, the whole Calypso arc just wound up confusing things toward the end. They freed her, she dissolved into crabs, made a whirlpool and... that was it. Very anticlimactic. Granted, the ensuing battle was incredible, but that was it for Calypso.
Jack and Barbossa were on the same side (despite mutinying against each other).
I loved the whole Jack vs. Barbossa thing they had going on. Both are very able captains and excellent swordsmen. I think the writers/directors did a great job showcasing their rivalry over the Black Pearl and her command. I had so many scenes that I loved, but the ones with Jack and Barbossa haggling over their roles aboard the Pearl were some of my favorites.
You like angst too much, Alde darling. I know Will actually dying would have made such a sorrowful Elizabeth, but hey, it's Disney. And yeah, I'm a ph4ngirl at heart. :P
I loved Davy Jones-Calypso also. For me, it was the most interesting thing about the movie (and I'm seriously tempted to write something about them.
Oh, please do. It was such a nice development, and their characters were very promising. I think that if the producers had added to their subplot, though, the overall attention would have been diverted too much from the central plots, and the movie would have been even more confusing.
It's just more interesting than having an uncomplicated true love type crap that you usually see. There's nothing to think about, nothing to explore, with that sort of relationship. It's not that I like angst, it's that I like complex relationships. Which is just correlated with angst.
There's a huge ninja v pirates (and v zombies) thing on the internet, but only the latter two get movies... strange...
That must be because ninja's marketing methods are more 'subtle' ;)
Not true. There's tons of things to explore in any *real* relationship, whether angsty or *apparently* easy-going, only that, in the latter, the issues lack that 'shock value' that makes the other seem tasty because they touch on more mundane and common things, that are not necesarily simple.
But hey, it's your preference and mine, no problem with that. :)
Jack's madness = FTW. Hahah. I thought so too. Especially the stone crabs scene.
Jack's dad. T3h awesome. Yeah. Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones. You know, Johnny Depp actually based Jack Sparrow off of Keith. I thought it was hilarious that he got to be Jack's father. [read an article about it in a magazine]
- The romance between Davy Jones and Calypso. It gave their characters more depth. I agree. But I hate it that they just dropped it in the middle of the movie. Like, it's done, that's it, move along.
The wedding scene Oh, I thought it was cute. A little pushy, but cute nonetheless. I love how when Will asked Elizabeth she didn't answer just asked Barabrosa to marry them. :)
If you did not stay till the end of the credits, then you're missing a very important development in the Will/Elizabeth affair. I did not stay. I never stay. In this case, I was shivering, sniffling, with a massive headache and my stomach was hurting. Plus we had some groceries in the car. XD
What was with the whole 'Elizabeth is Calypso' thing?

Yeah, the scene with the first crab was hilarious!

Aww, sorry about your cold! *hugs* I guess it's kind of pathetic to hang on to the credits in hopes of getting something *extra* (:P), but hey, it paid off the first two times... XD
Lot of leeway for a 4th.
Which there won't be, which made it kind of stupid, and suspicious now that you mention it. Were they *that* stupid to leave ends loose like that, or are they planning a new themed ride for Disneyland something to close them up?

When will they do ninja movies?
Yeah, I'm kind of waiting for that, too... :P
