Been a while...

Just got back to school from break. There's always that period of time before I leave where I dread returning, but once I get settled back in it's all ok again. I've been really drained all of last semester and hoped it would go away and I'd get my energy back over break; I didn't. I actually went to the doctor's and got the full blood panel. I feel like there is nothing to look forward to this semester too. Except Spring Break. I am so sick of school. And mostly of learning another language. What was I thinking? I hate studying. How is Chinese going? It's too bad we couldn't just upload a new langauge to our brain. :)

"It's too bad we couldn't just upload a new language to our brain." Lol. Yea. I'd want kung fu uploaded, too, just to be extra Matrix-y. =) Chinese is pretty good. Really hard. Right now I'm in denial because it seems like this semester it's going to be easier than last because there are fewer assignments, but deep down I know that wouldn't be very Chinese of my teacher, and she's very Chinese. In actuality, it's going to kick my butt this semester. You're just taking Russian this semester, right? How's that going? Are you hoping to visit anytime?

Sometimes I wish I had an American teacher for Russian. I don't think American teachers would assign so much. My Russian prof. told us that we should be studying 1-2 hours everyday including weekends. And she gives so much homework. Yeah, I'm just taking Russian (in addition to 4 other classes...3 of which are Russian related too). I was thinking of taking Arabic. That would be handy, but I'm getting sick of languages or at least the studying part. I don't think I'll be visiting Russia anytime soon. If I don't transfer, then I want to study abroad for a year in St. Petersburg, but I'm not so sure I'd be up to it if they have another horrible winter next year.
Are you going to study abroad in China? Next semester/year? Are you taking any other languages? What other classes are you taking?

Good luck this semester!!!

Lol, I know exactly what you mean about the American teacher thing...Sad, isn't it? I want to take Arabic really badly! But I think I'll have to wait until I graduate. And I actually decided today that I'm just going to audit Chinese; it's the only language I'm doing. Other classes are o chem, physics, calc II, and a class on ethnomusicology focusing on sacred musics. What are you taking? I'm hoping to go to Beijing in the fall.

I missed you if you came back out here, which I would imagine one would come back to family for the holidays. If you're back in time, you should come to my graduation party in the spring. But that's on May 23rd, so perhaps a little early for you... anyhow, assuming you'll be back in CO for summer, we'll HAVE to get together then!

May 23rd might actually be perfect. I'll be home around the 15th or so after my sister's graduation on the 13th. I'll be leaving again somewhere around the beginning of June for an internship (God willing!!). We'll definitely have to get together!

That's awful about getting blood work! Why didn't you say anything last week?? Wow. I had no idea last semester was that bad for you. :( Maybe get some more sleep? I've felt like I ran out of energy too and I think most of it is lack of sleep. At some point this semester I am going to try and sleep for 9 hours all 5 weekdays - you should too!

Yay for internships! You're so motivating. I need to get on that and get something that pays really well... does that exsist? Are your internship options paid ones?

I forgot about the blood work, honestly. I was just initially very disappointed; I know that sleeping more will help to an extent, but it's so much easier to take a vitamin supplement than to sleep more, especially since my schedule is so busy. 9 hours all 5 weekdays: that sounds amazing. I don't think it'll ever happen, but how glorious if it did...I'm pushing really hard for a regular 8 hours right now; hopefully that's more attainable.

Hehehe. I try. My internship options are indeed paid. I have no idea what kind of business internships there are or what kind of services your school offers in finding one. However, my school is part of a database of internships (monstertrak). It finds them for me based on subject and whether or not they are paid. Most of the ones I'm looking at work out to around 3000 for 10 weeks after room, board, and travel. The pay isn't great considering you're working 40 hours a week (I think it's ~$7.50/hr), but it's not retail!!
