ahh, to be Mel Gibson

Jul 03, 2007 02:45

I can't wait for the day that I, like Mel Gibson, will be rich and famous enough to direct, write, and produce my own feature films, filled with graphic, over the top violence, and blunt visual metaphors ( Read more... )

blah blah, movies

Yeah, it bothered me when one of the guys said "you're fucked"......I'm sure they didn't use that terminology back then.

UGH. Yes. Any lingering suspension of disbelief I had flew out the window at that point. Yikes.

*joins in on the Mel smack*

I can't wait for that day, myself. Just promise me that, unlike Mel, you'll fill your work with substance, intellectual and emotional nuance (although graphic stuff is okay if it has a purpose), and coherence. Coherence is a biggie in my book.

I have faith in you.

Coherence would be really nice, wouldn't it? I vow I will shoot for coherence, when the day comes. ;3

Though... I do have to admit some of the tattoos looked pretty neat.

Yeah, I felt the same way about it. I felt like, it could have been much better. They could have delt more with the "bigger picture", like the conflict of the old ways(the main character's village) against the new ways(the city), and less on the main character running away and stuff. :/

I really wish it was better than it was, because you really don't see too many movies about Mayans and stuff, and it had potential to be cool. But yeah, Mel? I liked you better as Mad Max, not Mr. Director. XD

Yeah, I know what you mean. But reading the wikipedia article on it explains why they didn't... Mel really wanted to make a movie that was all about the very basic idea of "a man running for his life." =/ So who knows.

And yes, it could have been totally cool! Mayans! Tattoos! Stuff! But I also agree that I prefer Mel in front of the camera rather than behind it. And not in a looks way so much as a please stop directing horrifically violent movies way ^^;;;

I felt the same way. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good, either. But then, I didn't really know what to expect, other than Mayans, so I had formed some kind of crazy mental image of something infinitely more awesome than what the movie actually was. And the time/space frame confused the hell out of me. "How many days/weeks have they been waking? Wait, how many hours did it take him to just run back? Where are they?!"

Now, if you want a real mindless action move, go see Live Free or Die Hard. So. Many. Explosions. But it's hella entertaining. And makes me want to hack computers.

Typeity typeity type. I need to learn keyboard shortcuts so I can look cool. XD

Okay, I'm glad I wasn't the only one completely and utterly thrown by the odd timeframe. It made NO SENSE. NONE. D: I could have cried a few times.

And I am going to see that with my brother this weekend!!! I have high hopes, of course, because I love the hell out of Bruce Willis, even if the bastard is a republican XD;

I've always wanted to be a haxx0r... oh childhood dreams. x3
