Okay, it’s that time again. Furry Convention time! Yay! But of course it comes with the terrors of traveling for me. Yes, you’re going to ask, "Why are you afraid of traveling?" My answer is that when you are out there, there are unimaginable things that can happen ( Read more... )

Lionus, Lionus... Have you forgotten that the joy of going on an adventure is not knowing whats gonna happen next?:p So what if you end up in Albania, so what if you miss the flight to AC, so what if you're late for the ride home.... Think of the adventure you'll get instead^^, Albania!! Cool! Never been there before:D "I'll still make it to AC if i just trust in my luck and get the next flight back":p "Ah well, what's a few more hours gonna hurt, at least i'll get breakfast ( ... )

Okay, I'll try to be the only person in Pago Pago Albania who will 'take the things that happen to me with a grin on my face'. :) Actually, it's really about the only thing I can do about it.

I have always remembered a National Geographic television documentary about an explorer on an expedition to New Guinea (which is still one of the least explored areas of the planet). The explorer (perhaps tongue in cheek) defined an adventure as 'that part of your trip after things begin to go wrong'. I've always liked that definition. :)

Haha, it seems you have a run of bad luck in your travels, so i wonder what sort of stuff would happen to you compared to me if we were in the same place at the same time but didn't know eachother:p That could have been a cool movie i think:p ( ... )

It is difficult to imagine that you would not be positive about traveling, what with all the really wondrous things that have happened to you. You must live under a lucky star or something with all the things you have won. Personally I think it must be your attitude towards life that sets you up for all the good things that happen to you. I firmly believe that Life fulfills one's expectations.

Now while I may paint a literary picture of fears and worries about traveling, I love to travel. I thrive on the new things I encounter, new places, new people and all the new ideas that come with them. In just under 24 hours my odyssey to Anthrocon will begin. Wheeeee! :)

On behalf of America and her millions, thank you for the compliment, especially now on the celebration of her and our Independence Day. Two hundred and thirty one years old and we are still in the process of reinventing ourselves for the better. :)

After seeing Brokeback Mtn. I would imagine that Albanian sheepherders would smell better, not be named Randy in the first place and you always pack lubrication no matter what!

Besides, you worry too much... if you get sent off to Timbuktu I'm sure things will work out just right :)

Good luck and have fun *hugs*

Ah! There! See? I almost didn't add "lubricant" to my must-pack list. Thanks, Wappa. Now at least that part of my trip will go smoothly. (pun intended) :D

Ok... tripping doesn't require lubricant but it could involve it if you drop it and then slip in it... XD

*wishes he could be there*

Ah well, maybe next year when I'm richer, have vacation time and more bills paid off (and more money) *impatient sigh*

I found the only way to get to AnthroCon every year is to start putting away a little money every week starting the week following the con. Fifty-two weeks of saving a little bit every week adds up -- and with the cost of everything being as expensive as it is, every bit of saved money helps. :)

You think you have problems? I have to drop off dogs at the kennel tomorrow. Drive to the airport on the 4th of July and hope the place I ususlly park has not been replaced by a light rail station (it's going to happen, I just don't know when.) Catch a night flight to Atlanta. Sit in Atlanta for three hours. Catch a flight to Pittsburgh (checks scrap of paper to make sure he didn't book himself to Philadelphia out of habit). Hope luggage is there and not on its way to Albania or Hong Kong or who knows where else. Try to find worried lion in BIG airport. Get his luggage. Find taxi with driver that understands "Convention Center" in English. Get to hotel. Hope the shocked person behind the desk has not lost my reservation. Find Gryphon room mate. Find little birdie room mate. Find liquor store so Gryphon can make martinis. Remember to have fun!

Oh my gosh, you are right! The airport IS big. Huge! GIGANTIC! The tiger shouldn't have any problem finding the lion. He'll be the one huddled in a corner whimpering with the tip of his tail clutched firmly in his pawhands.
