Yup, there are tonnes of nifty things you can download for Win7... but I still operate my main compy from XP....

I have so many neat things that I am doing in my computer now (artworks, writing, downloading free music, playing computer games (I am addicted), organizing all the *ahem* picture files I have collected and manually doing backups (which I will be doing today) that I don't have much time to go out on the Net for the free stuff -- though I do have to admit knowing that there are free programs out there that I could use to play with my files is very very tempting. I am a closet librarian and the thought of organizing the files on my computer excites me with an evil glee. ;-)

XP? I have nothing bad to say about it. I used and enjoyed using that OS on my last compy and it never gave me any problems. But of course I do not define myself by the things I dislike. Microsoft has been very good to me over the years and taken care of my system with automatic up-dates and very cool features. Go Microsoft! :-)
