ETA 12th August 2013: Due to popularity of this post I've unlocked it from my otherwise f-locked journal. If you find your way here following links I would love a comment (though its not compulsory!) as I like to know that I can still help spread the love in a fandom that helped me so much when I needed it <3I've been holding out on you guys... Just passing by via ds_noticeboard, and I had to say 1) thanks to you and wonkyinagoodway for sharing this and 2) this is ... interesting. My F/K shipper heart is torn in two at this ending, but my Fraser/Thatcher shipper is doing a little dance of glee. I'm seeing subtext there--is it just me?

Also, I do love the parallel/circuity in this ending, because I love the way the pilot episode begins. *draws hearts*

Heh, no, I saw the subtext there, too. How very weird - a CotW script is the last place I would have expected to find Fraser/Thatcher :-)

LOL! True, that. Ultimately, I think I prefer canon because it gives the characters (read: Fraser) more depth, but it's interesting to compare the two.

Huh. Wow. I don't like it, and I don't think it has much to do with me wanting the F/K ending (well, okay, maybe a little *g*). I just...Fraser goes back and it's as if nothing has changed since the beginning of the pilot, as if the whole Chicago thing never happened and it didn't affect him. : (

Yeah! Yeah, that's just wrong!

deadly wrong. I think he would have been changed by those years and by his Rays and I PROTEST this invasion to my canon most STRENUOUSLY.

Yeah, I do have to agree with you about that. I mean it is a nice mirror to the pilot episode, but I don't like how Fraser didn't seem to change AT ALL from his time in Chicago. Where's all of Fraser's character development? I feel bad for RayK; besides Sandor, Fraser was the only friend he had (in canon).

Oh wow! You know, the thing I like least about this is Welsh -- it seems kind of pat and out of character for him to buy everyone dinner. But I LOOOOOOVE Vecchio calling Kowalski "Vecchio" (because that's practically a proposal of marriage, right there, heh). Just... Chicago without Fraser is sad. And Kowalski and Vecchio without Fraser is sad (but mostly Kowalski, because he seems so lonely, and what does Welsh mean by "you're looking... better"?! Is that like, "Your broken heart is healing?). I am a little chin-wobbly at the thought. But also brain-exploded, so probably entirely irrational.

Thanks so much for posting this!!! Eeeee!

here via a link form china_shop I will of course be including this in dS weekly.

I admit it I love this ending...this just makes so much more sene to me (but then I had issues with the original one, hee). It;s just like Fraser got what he wanted, that's where he always wanted to be. And it's a nice throwback to the pilot. So yes.

Plus there's always fic from when we want Fraser to visit Chicago and Ray and Ray or vica versa.

That whole ending just feels more in keeping with the setup you know?

Thank you for posting it.
