I understand how you feel. Paco went from being an undergraduate student to being a high school teacher in a matter of weeks. Now most of his new acquaintances/friends are teachers who are older and already established in their careers. So when I'm around and they talk to me the differences (in age, experience, etc.) become obvious. They'll ask something simple like, "So you're almost done with Grad school aren't you?" And then I'll have to explain that I'm almost done with my undergraduate studies.
What it really boils down to is our own insecurities though. Most people, I think, are probably mostly just impressed when they find out how young we are and how much we've already accomplished. The awkwardness we feel is just...well, like you said (gracias mami y papi), baggage.
