Remix and other Sundries

Well, now that we can go non-anonymous (un-anonymous, de-anonymize?), I can reveal that I wrote Come One, Come All (The Gorram Snakes Remix), which I think would have been painfully obvious to anyone familiar with my writing (especially my tells of fragmentary, beat-poet River with mythical allusions, and the hint of Simon/ Kaylee I couldn’t resist ( Read more... )

Seriously, how the hell do I fix this?

A little bit at a time.

I think the first step is just getting in the habit of noticing when you start thinking that way. Subconscious behaviors are difficult, if not impossible, to change. The more conscious you are of the problem, the easier it will be to change. So probably start by not actually trying to change it as such, but just noticing when it happens, and the sooner the better. Noticing after the fact is better than nothing, but noticing as it's happening is even better.

Possibly 5 a.m. is not a great time to be even attempting to give any kind of advice. I'm not sure how much sense that made and stuff.

Anyway, *hugs*.

It made a lot of sense, actually (at least as much sense as my 3 am blather, if not more), and as much as I'd like a quick fix, I think you are likely right and have given me an excellent approach to start dealing. Thanks bud. *huge hugs*

I look forward to that other side, I miss you, and in about a month your Titania should be here (and also I really hope I can TTrek).

i think bud has a good point... first try to notice the reaction and then when you can catch it as it's happening and realize what you are doing, it will hopefully be a little easier to simply stop and step back and know that you are not at fault. shit happens and we don't have control over everyone's actions or perceived reactions.

knitting! awesome! 'cause i've been knitting up a storm too :)

have you joined ravelry.com? if not, go register. it takes about a week for you to get your invite (it's still in beta) but it is a fantastic resource for patterns. there's a couple of vintage forums that may help you with finding the pattern you want, if it exists... or, you can learn enough so that you could create your own patter by taking elements of other cardigans and combining them into your perfect cardigan. ;) (i'm vampirefan there too so friend me!)

Thanks you! *hugs* Heeee, I wonder if this is the occasional control freak in me coming out (cause if it was my fault I can fix it and make it better/not happen again). Hmmmm... interesting thought... Thanks!

Yay knitting!!! Go you knitting! Knitting is awesomely calming. Thanks for the ravelry advice, I shall have to check it out (once I finish papers/this lace scarf I want to do pink lemon twists cherry blossom stole and then the girl from auntie's Rogue sweater! Or perhaps a lace wrap (no idea what pattern) to go with a dress I have for my friends' wedding this summer. I am perhaps spending too much time day dreaming what I will knit next/eventually. I kind of love the fact that I'm moving to a colder climate, cause yay warm toasty knits.) What are you working on now?

the stuff you want to do sounds awesome! are you planning on using lace weight yarn? i haven't don't anything lace weight 'cause i feel like it would take forever but the fantastically beautiful things i've see on ravelry make me want to try. ravelry is definitely a time-suck. if you go there, you'll be browsing patterns til the wee hours of the morning!

i'm working on like 5 things right now. the inga hat (my first real colorwork pattern), jayne hats for our can't stop the serenity charity screening (i've made 3 so far), mini-jayne hats to be made into magnets or pins, also for the screening, a baby kimono sweater for my new to-be-born-in-sept niece... plus i want to start more stuff! lol!
