Well, now that we can go non-anonymous (un-anonymous, de-anonymize?), I can reveal that I wrote

A little bit at a time.
I think the first step is just getting in the habit of noticing when you start thinking that way. Subconscious behaviors are difficult, if not impossible, to change. The more conscious you are of the problem, the easier it will be to change. So probably start by not actually trying to change it as such, but just noticing when it happens, and the sooner the better. Noticing after the fact is better than nothing, but noticing as it's happening is even better.
Possibly 5 a.m. is not a great time to be even attempting to give any kind of advice. I'm not sure how much sense that made and stuff.
Anyway, *hugs*.

knitting! awesome! 'cause i've been knitting up a storm too :)
have you joined ravelry.com? if not, go register. it takes about a week for you to get your invite (it's still in beta) but it is a fantastic resource for patterns. there's a couple of vintage forums that may help you with finding the pattern you want, if it exists... or, you can learn enough so that you could create your own patter by taking elements of other cardigans and combining them into your perfect cardigan. ;) (i'm vampirefan there too so friend me!)

Yay knitting!!! Go you knitting! Knitting is awesomely calming. Thanks for the ravelry advice, I shall have to check it out (once I finish papers/this lace scarf I want to do pink lemon twists cherry blossom stole and then the girl from auntie's Rogue sweater! Or perhaps a lace wrap (no idea what pattern) to go with a dress I have for my friends' wedding this summer. I am perhaps spending too much time day dreaming what I will knit next/eventually. I kind of love the fact that I'm moving to a colder climate, cause yay warm toasty knits.) What are you working on now?
