I finally saw the Social Network (which I totally enjoyed despite it making me sad, mainly cause geeks are my people and I was actually visiting a friend at Harvard around that time (though had no idea that thefacebook existed) which was extra cool) BUT Andrew Garfield looks very, very much like my grade 9/10 crush (which was a mistake cause he was ( Read more... )

See, usually I have trouble with movies like that (I need a gateway character, and I suppose eduardo was to some extent), but I also have issues with Sorkin... he's an asshole, but I suppose that helps him cause truthfully no one writes banter and assholes the way he does.

I think that would be a little difficult since I have not knitted one thing ever in my life! But thank you, bb! I'm going to see if I can find a relative to show me some basic crochet so I can learn to make blankies. :-)

Cool! crochet is good too (I was much better at it when I first learned in an after school program in grade school - I could never keep my tension in knitting). The internet is a very useful resource. depending on how you learn, http://www.knittinghelp.com/ might work...

heh. yeah, I speak in tongues... you can make socks either starting at the top or at the toe, noro is a brand of yarn and the clapotis is a pattern I have knit previously that had left over yarn... *grins*

Ooo, what sock pattern are you doing? I've also got a toe done on my first pair of socks! I'm doing knitty's Riff socks and am really happy with how the whole toe up construction is working (the twisted stitches in the stitch pattern are getting old fast though). Even though I'm only like a quarter done the first sock of my first pair, I know that I'm definitely gonna be in the pro toe-up camp and am wrinkling my nose at prospective cuff down patterns.

Top-down, toe-up, in the round all the way... this is how I like to knit! :-)

Yay knitting! Ooooh, twisted sticth! I have yet to do a project with those. Yay for first pair of socks!!! I'm using http://media.wendyknits.net/knit/DetailedToeUp.pdf which tanis of tanis fiber arts rec'd on her blog. I wanted to do toe-ups cause I want to use every last bit of my noro sock (I love watchign the colours change so much). Cookie A does all cuff down patterns, and I love her socks, so I have no idea what camp I'm going to fall into if these socks turn me into a sock knitter... but I am firmly in the pick up stitches rather than sew together after camp. I love knitting in the round and set in sleeves and hate seaming sooooooo.
