Tonight was a very rewarding night of civic duty for Brent, Drew and I.
It all began at our favorite restaurant.....P-Pats for those of you that are retarded. We had consumed a large quantity of delicious foods, Drew and Brent had the ribs/shrimp and I took part in a wonderful medium rare prime rib.
We got to the car and realized that we had to stop by Drews because we had to pick up the dvd at Drew's house. This set in motion the following events. We departed in the Rover and made our way onto A1A, as we crossed the first bridge Brent noticed the driver in an Accord behind us was extremely drunk and swerving a lot. After a few minutes he had nearly hit us 2 or 3 times as we called the Hilsboro police to catch him, he decided to pass us. He continued on his blatant course of swerving, nearly hitting cars in the oncoming lanes. We saw a cop up ahead and figured that our mission was over. We had reached a fork in the road........should we continue and ensure his arrest......or do we assume his arrest and return to Drew's. These three brave souls chose to press on for closure.
This was a vital move on our part, as the police did'nt catch him. We caught sight of him at Hillsboro and A1A as he progressed towards I-95. We jumped feet first into the chase this time. Drew called in to the police and relayed the information to them. Before getting to I-95 he noticed we were following him.......BLAST!!!we'd been spotted. He made an illegal U-turn which was the first of many as he made futile attempts to break loose of our grip. For the most part he wasn't speeding, so it was easy to keep up. Silly drunk....your being chased by petrol heads in a Rover Sport Supercharged.....you don't stand a chance.
The driver then decided to turn into a drive thru chicken.....ehhh I dunno what the hell it was......food place. We waited for him to return to the road, which he did when he realized he wasn't as sly as a fox. The chase then took us to Federal as we entered the Boca limits, the dispatcher had to then tranfer us to the Boca department....who were far from helpful. Boca is so slow that they never have anything to do.....so you would think they would jump on this......nope they just sent out an ID on the car and to keep an eye out......useless. We passed by the Boca police station twice, and the guy was in the parking lot accross the street trying to lose us........and not a cop in sight to stop him......you gotta be shitting me.
I think by this point you realize how long we followed this guy.......oh it get's longer. He continued to run red lights as he tried to break free from us, but we would just catch back up to him within seconds. A short while later the chase found it's way to Glades going west over I-95. Throughout this time we have been left in shock as the driver nearly hits countless cars, it was quite crazy. We then chose to call in to the police 1 last time. They directed us to the Sherrifs office who were very helpfull in tracking us down.
Eventually we got into West Boca at Lyons/Glades. The driver blasted through the red light and took a left down Lyons in an attempt to lose us. Of course we didn't mirror his actions. As soon as the light turned green......I threw the Rover into sport mode and floored it as I knew the following curvy road quite well. We believe at this point he was as much as a mile ahead of us, which we made short work of. I was going roughly 90+ down Lyons.....safely of course. We managed to catch him at Palmetto where he nearly went head on into the median to which I was in disbelief he didn't crash.
About 5min later we reached the turning point in this story.....as a Sheriffs officer pulls up along side of us. We all roll our windows down and begin to franticly point at the car. The officer then tells us to follow behind him so that he can get our statements etc. The Sheriff pulls in behind the Accord, who then procceeds to dart in and out of traffic......sealing his fate. We waited in the car as about 6 Sheriffs cars pull in to deal with the driver.
After a short wait the officer comes back to tell us whats going on. He tells us that the driver has refused all tests, and wreaks of alcohol. And the best part.....he had a drink in a glass.....with a lime. We had a few good laughs with the officer about everything. They then ask us to fill out an optional statement to help the case etc, which we do. Before we had finished the sheets though, the perps friends showed up and started to talk to the cops, then left and flicked us off in the process. The cops said they were basically worthless POS scum. It's now time to head back home, but first the officer tells us that MADD(Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) will be notified about what we did, and that they will be sending us each around $100-150 for our great deed. How do you like dem apples!!
So that was our journey, and we have found a new profession as MADD agents.
