& so, today i went into town to photograph the EDL protest which shortly became a riot with the protesters breaking the police barriers.

& i got twatted over the head with a sign that said "sharia law oppresses women", ironic no?

what do you believe in? )

moments captured for your pleasure

crikey, they look like a charming bunch.

somehow i can't really imagine any of them having particularly strong feminist views :|

walking into town when there was only one bus load was scary enough.
atmosphere in the air, you could feel the tension.

English Defense League. they're basically very 'our country our law'.
long story short our uni union president posted a lift of local BNP (british national party - very racist political party) on our union website, claiming that he wasn't inciting racial hatred or intolerance of views, but 'we need to know were they live for our safety".
needless to say, the EDL thought it would be brilliant to come march in the town, which actually turned into a riot.

Gosh, you're brave, if they'd been in my town I think I'd have gone for a weekend in Paris. Or possibly Mecca.

Does the Oldham flag really say 'LOL'?
