I've just seen in an article I was reading that the word "meme" was coined by Richard Dawkins (a Darwinian biologist) to describe self replicating cultural elements.

I'm not really sure if anybody else cares, but I thought it was quite interesting. I didn't actually find it interesting enough to have gone out and looked at the Wiki page on my own
