Lists that I'm considering making...
Well, there are a few more topics which interest me a lot and which I think might make good lists:
- Metamorphmagus!Harry (yes, I know JKR shot that down - but it's quite often a part of a story and I like the idea)
- Fics where Harry takes care of Dobby and Winky - I feel so bad for poor Winky in canon I'm happy about every fic where she gets "adopted"
- swordfighting and martial arts - there is nothing whatsoever in canon that gives the idea that swordfighting is still practiced today, much less that wizards (or just Harry) practice martial arts, but it's a rather common cliché. And when it's well-done, I like it. And in a lot of ways - if just Harry, Aurors or whoever trains Harry uses it - it goes well together with "dodging is often better than shielding" (If I make this list, might make it in one list or split in two.)
- Snape is evil, sided with Voldemort, only on his own side or simply nasty and out to get Harry - I would not take fics where he is simply as ambiguous and annoying as in canon, however - as I think that there are way too many of those out there (even if Snape is redeemed more often than not!)
- There is a block on Harry's magic (can be from the Killing Curse, can be because Dumbledore is evil and put it there, can be from his parents who needed to deal with Harry having his first accidental magic episodes or special powers, can be that Harry himself applied it unconsciously every time the Dursleys punished him for performing magic)
- Normal pregnancy (as this topic was just asked for on Fictionalley). There are so many mpreg-stories out there (and possibly more than one list for this) but a lot less fpreg ones. I'd only take stories where at least one of the parents is a (major) canon character and where the pregnancy actually is shown in the fic. (If we only have the result, kids, I certainly wouldn't count it!)
- Harry keeps training the DA after OotP. (As much as I like HBP, that's one of the points where I'm slightly disappointed. The DA was so important for Harry during OotP and now that he has Quidditch back and Umbridge is gone, he doesn't even once consider continuing it!)
- Flamels - there are not too many fics with those chars, however. Would end up a rather short list.
- Harry learns wandless magic.
- Ministry Crew trains together.
- A major canon-character is someone else - such as the person we believed to be Dumbledore is actually Salazar or Harry or... (only if the fic is centered on it!)
Edit: I just added two more themes, one where the idea came from a post in response to this, one which I had actually been thinking of already but somehow forgot to add yesterday. (I might keep updating this list every so often, depending on lists I might have finished or new ideas I have.)
I also have some other (minor) fic-list-ideas but those cited above are the ones which seem most interesting to me. - And of course I might suddenly have another idea and just make a list of it spontaneously.
Plus I still owe an (as of yet unspecified) list to csi_tokyo3 for answering my Harry/Padma-challenge. - If you haven't read his fic yet, Take Out the Seeker, it's definitely worth a read. :D
What list would people be most interested in?
Yes, serpentclara, I have a good guess what list you are going to vote for. ;)
(If you have links for me for the list you find most interesting, that also might help me make the list faster! *grin*)
*sighs* And now off to write job applications. (Why can't I just send in HP themed lists instead? lol)
And ranging my wardrobe and cleaning up my apartment. What wouldn't I give for a quick "Scourgify" and similar...
