Hogwarts-AUs (Harry-centric)
Originally I saw this list as the third link to "AU: Harry doesn't grow up with the Dursleys" and "Mentorship and adoption". But very few stories on this list actually have to do with adoption or mentorship. So now I renamed the list. And I'm taking every story where Harry's pre-Hogwarts life takes place at the Dursleys (though there can be changes as early as that) but the story centers around the changes that happen when Harry comes to Hogwarts.
- Harry lives with the Dursleys till he starts Hogwarts - but there can be other magical people nearby, Dursleys can be more abusive than canon, not abusive at all, etc.
- There can be changes to canon even before Hogwarts. But the important facts have to stay the same:
Attack on the fateful Halloween has happened, James and Lily are dead, Harry is magical and lives with the Dursleys till he comes to Hogwarts at 11. (After that he may come back to the Dursleys for the summer or not).
- Stories where he has grown up with anyone but the Dursleys (even if his childhood isn't shown much), belong in my AU: Harry doesn't grow up with the Dursleys-list.
- No Redo-stories. See my Timetravel-list for those.
- No One-shots that just deal with "Harry was sorted into Slytherin" or similar.
- No abandoned stories or WIPs with less than five chapters, please. And no badly written stories.
When you rec stories for this list, please don't leave just a link. To put them up in this list I particularly need a general summary and perhaps how it differs from canon. Status (WIP, Complete, Abandoned or Hiatus), pairings (if there are any), Rating and how it diverges from canon would help as well!!!

Harry Potter and Fate's Debt by intromit. (Or here for the edited, updated version.) ##
Harry/Ginny. Just before leaving for Hogwarts finds a letter from his future self: "Get to know Ginny. Fate owed me." This leads to Harry and Ginny soulbonding the moment they meet at the station before Harry begins his first year at Hogwarts.
The original version goes till the ending of OotP, the new version only is a few chapters so far (end of PoA right now) but as good as the original story was, the edited and corrected version is infinitely better. Not only are most of the spelling errors, etc. corrected, it's also a lot longer and more detailled (what originally was told in four chapters now spans over ten). Well worth the wait to get the corrected version up to that point.

Harry Potter and the Pretty Sorcerors Balls by NGX's Girl X. NR
What if Harry Potter was really REALLY flamboyantly gay? Despite what one might think from the title, this is actually a very good story. No pathetic canon!Harry here, but also no super!Harry either. Harry is more independent, clever, and confident than canon!Harry, and the author has done an excellent job of creating believable characters and well thought-out plots. Harry never intends to return to the Dursleys after first year, and arranges alternate accommodations for himself without Dumbledore's knowledge or approval.

Harry Potter, the Archmagus by the DragonBard.
After an incident with Dudley and his gang, Harry discovers his magical abilities. However, there is no one to teach him how to wield his magic. So, with only fantasy books to guide him, Harry must forge himself into the wizard he is meant to be.
Could be called a crossover between HP and D&D, I guess, as the books Harry founds most of his theories on are the rpg rulebooks for D&D 3rd edition.
