Translation: 影踏み (Kagefumi)

Shadow Tag

The dried up sound of footsteps   skin dyed by moonlight
Your cold hand

When dawn has broken without us coming undone

could you abandon your hesitation?
Searching for the reason to keep believing in tomorrow, 1

something inside was broken
Everything seems distorted
Hey,   are we still smiling?

Hold me close now   so we don't forget 2
One day, even our voices won't reach eachother
It seems like they're vanishing in the rain that's dancing down 3
our footsteps, overlapping
until they're interrupted

Grasp my hand tightly
now that alone is enough
It's only this that means I'm still believing in you in the light

Hold me close now   so we don't forget
One day, even our voices won't reach eachother
I'm not raising an umbrella to the rain that's dancing down
I'm sorrowful like that

Hey, love me

With our hearts that became so fragile this way
we're falling together, gazing at the light
I've finally overlapped
with your shadow

Hey, don't forget   that this isn't the end

1 This line uses 意味 (meaning / significance), rather than reason (which would be 事由), but I think reason works here in English, the more accurate but awkward translation would be something like 'Searching for a meaning (in life), to keep believing in tomorrow'
2 Could be 'So I/you don't forget' as there's no personal pronoun
3 舞い散る (maichiru) means 'to fall as if dancing' (e.g. leaves, petals), I like that Japanese has a word for this <3 Also, could be either the voice or the footsteps that are vanishing (or both?), but my guess is it's the footsteps.
