I've never actually gone to the top of the Empire State Building, or taken the ferry to the Statue of Liberty, or anything like that. So you're more of a New Yorker than me ;-) And that's right, the riots! I read about them in the New York Times Saturday and was going to ask you if you saw anything but it looked like they were all out in the suburbs. New Yorkers may seem really nice, and some of them are, but crazy stuff happens there. It's just different kinds of crazy stuff...
You're right I'm sure, but I'm so sick about what happened in Paris and the violence against firemen or innocent people! It's unfair, they may have their problems ( poverty, unemployment, boredom, unrooting...) they can't make these crazy things! Nothing can explain this blind violence against other people!!
And for the Empire? You MUST climb it the next time you go, just when the sunset....
Blind violence, well... we get a fair bit of too with abortion clinic bombings and such. *sigh* Every country/city has its violence, it's just different types.
And do you have to pay to go to the top of the Empire State Building? I don't really like the idea of paying money just to go up an elevator, lol.
Going to New York is an exciting experience, especially when you come from Europe. How can you explain how huge this town is, the energy, the atmosphere? You have to see it, pics are not showing enough.
I smiled when you said that you climbed the Empire State Building. I remember I visited it and climbed a bit before sunset, so I had this image of New York under the sun, at sunset and at night. It was wonderful to see all the lights from above.
Oh you're right, I'll never forget that! I had the feeling to be on the roof of the entire world! And I love sharing what I can! I'm feeling so much as a taker sometimes, because I'm just a reader... I can't write...
This was my best trip ever!! It was love at first sight, when I haven't put my feet on the ground yet, I was already in love with this city through the window of my plane! :) sweet memories... *hugs*
