So. Last week I learned (/was reminded?) that the tropics hate me. Next time I decide I want to go on a vacation anywhere NEAR a tropical region, remind me to bring only fully covering clothing and to avoid anything even remotely involving the sun

I love visiting the DR. Which part of the country did you visit?

The resort we were at was in an area known as San Juan, I think? Unfortunately, I don't know the geography very well around there. We flew in through Puerto Plata and it was about an hour's drive away.
