Sonja and Mike left for Thailand yesterday.  Well, their flight left today, but I had to say goodbye yesterday.  I won't hear anything from them until Wednesday.  Prayers for a safe flight and no incidents, that they make it to Chieng Mai, Thailand, safe and sound.  Also prayers for both sides of the family.  We won't see them for two years at the ( Read more... )

Will they have telephone and/or internet contact once they're settled in? I hope you do get to visit them at some point. Why would you have to wait 2 yrs?

2 years because that's the mininum time to save up enough money to fly over and visit. The way things are going though, I won't have the funds to do that for 4 years, and then they'll be home anyways!

I got an email from Sonja today. They had to buy appliances for their home (because it didn't come with any) and are looking into buying a truck. So pretty much according to the game plan. Their computer and printer made it through customs, and since I got an email, I hope they have an internet connection soon. We have web cams and skype, so at least we'll have live internet phone calls. From what we've experienced with Mak and Narola (their missions partners), the internet calls are easier to hear than actual phone calls.

Mak and Narola are going back to Pua tomorrow, which means Sonja and Mike will be without a translator and flying by the seat of their pants, so to speak. Afterall, they're in Chiang Mai for the language school.

Now you know as much as I do! :)
