So, I'm curious. Anyone on my flist read Divergent? My sister convinced me to read it and I got totally hooked. It's not the most perfectly written book ever, but man, the concept and the world building are wonderful. I'm actually really looking forward both to the last book in the series and to the movie coming out next year ( Read more... )

I just started reading Divergent and I'm on Ch. 12. But honestly I have to agree that Colton would be a perfect Four just from what I've read so far :) I went and bought Insurgent cause I really love Divergent already <3

The third book in the series is supposed to be out this fall, and I am so anxious for it. The information bomb that gets dropped at the end of Insurgent will make your jaw drop. I so totally did not see it coming.

It's a YA book, sort of along the same lines as Hunger Games without the mass slaughter of children. It takes place in a somewhat dystopian future, where everyone is divided into one of five factions ( ... )

"I actually liked it a lot more than Hunger Games because, honestly, Katniss is not really a very likable protagonist most of the time. Tris actually is."

O . O

Strangely I've seen people say the exact opposite regarding Tris. Interesting. *rubs chin*

I didn't like Katniss much at first either but by the end of the series I loved her. Finnick is still my favorite though.

From the reviews/excerpts I've seen it doesn't look like something I'd enjoy reading, but I love that everyone has reeeeeeally been getting back into books lately. * ____ *

To be honest I'm seriously craving some fantasy novel recommendations. :

My absolute favorite fantasy series is the Belgariad series and the Malloreon series by David Eddings. I read those books over and over and over again. I adore those books.

I shall seek them out! I usually have issues with fantasy in that I want action and treachery and all kinds of cool stuff...without the 28947240 chapters of romance. I like it to be subtle. And I hate for one of the protagonist's main driving forces to be his/her love for some random person they met 2 chapters before. Idk. It knocks me out of the story.

A Spell for Chameleon (Xanth Novel) is FANTASTIC. Seriously one of my all time faves.
