tbh, the more I see/hear about the flashback episode the less I'm sure that I'll be able to get through it.
It takes surprisingly little to break my heart when it comes to characters I love and I feel like this episode is going to destroy me. Not to mention the fact that I don't have cable at my house right now and I don't see myself getting it by June which means I will be driving across town to poach my mom's cable to watch this. If she sees me crying over a television show, she will laugh at me and call me ridiculous. :P
I have to admit I'm somewhat concerned about the episode myself, mainly because I was sexually molested from age 12 through age 18, and I still have some pretty significant triggers when it comes to adults having sexual relationships with underaged partners. I may end up having a friend of mine screen the episode for me and warn me about any possible problems I might have, so that I can watch it online and skip things that I don't think I'll be able to handle.
I'm actually having the same concern about the "really dark" episode that Jeff talked about on Tumblr the other day, because he said he had expected some push back from The Powers That Be over some of the content and was surprised when he didn't get it. So I've already set up a system for that one where, if it looks at all like something is heading for a rape or potential rape scenario, I can turn the show off and watch it later online, skipping the content that might trigger me.
oh, God. Jeff can have all the dark episodes he wants just, please God, no rape scenarios. :(
When he talked about it, my mind didn't even go there; I thought he was talking about a more maim/torture/death scenario, not that. Now I'm afraid, though. I, personally, haven't been through anything of the sort but my mom and sister have and I cannot read or watch anything like that without thinking about them and what they've told me. I won't be able to watch it if that's what they plan on doing, I'll be skipping scenes right there with you.
Personally, I'm hoping the flashback episode has nothing to do with Kate at all - I haven't heard anything about the actress coming back, have you? - and it's focused on something else entirely, maybe a few months before Derek meets Kate and the fire happens.
They never said that it would have something to do with Kate, did they? Just that it would be before the fire and Derek's family would be alive.
I haven't heard anything about Jill coming back, so I'm really hoping that maybe we'll get sweet, loving Hale Family interaction in the flashback. I heard that we're supposed to get to see what Peter was like before the fire, and we're supposed to get to see Laura and Mama Hale, but I haven't heard anything about anyone else that's going to be in that episode. So I'm really hoping we're not going to see any Kate/Derek stuff.
