Man, I swear sometimes people just baffle me. Now, I understand that the whole "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" thing isn't universal and there are people who don't understand the concept of refusing to be bluntly honest about disliking something when their opinion is asked. It's so annoying. ESPECIALLY if no one solicited the opinion in the first place! Posting something up with a "Hey, here's a sneak peek at what's been keeping me busy for the last couple of months!" is not a call for even constructive criticism, you know? *sigh*

Oh, god, I KNOW, RIGHT? Seriously, if you don't like it, well, good for you! You're certainly entitled to your opinion and you have the absolute right to move on to something that you do like. Art is subjective, and different people have different tastes and nothing is going to please everyone, and that's okay. What isn't okay is shoving criticism based on your personal taste into the designer's/artist's/writer's face as though your opinion is more important than the opinion of anyone who actually likes the work. Don't like it? Fine, MOVE ON.

It is also impossible to please all the people all the time, so sometimes even what people think is constructive criticism isn't because its about fundamental things that are just a preference.

Yes, this is one of my major peeves as well. But my favorite comments are from people who hate on your work simply because it's not their OTP. I mean seriously? SRSLY???

Oh, god, or leave you a comment saying, "This was good, but it would have been so much better if it had been [Other OTP]. You should write some [Other OTP]."
